The study and preservation of the cultural and historical legacy of Uzbekistan is the goal of the two-day international scientific and cultural congress "Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan — the way to dialogue between peoples and countries". It was held on May 15 and 16 in Tashkent and Samarkand.

The scientific congress was attended by more than 120 foreign and 100 Uzbek scientists, collectors and experts who specialize in Oriental studies, archeology, history, Oriental manuscripts, numismatics, textiles, ceramics, metal products, jewelry and paintings, preservation and promotion of the cultural and historical heritage of Uzbekistan. Among them are representatives of Russia, the USA, China, Canada, Italy, Great Britain, India, Egypt, Korea, Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Germany, the Czech Republic, Turkey, Greece, Azerbaijan, representatives of UNESCO and ICOMOS (International Council for the Preservation of Monuments and Places of Interest).

The key event of the forum was the presentation of an exclusive cultural and educational media project "Cultural heritage of Uzbekistan in the collections of the world". Its author is the Honored journalist of Uzbekistan Firdavs Abdukhalikov, the scientific director of the project is Academician of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan Edward Rtveladze.

"The fact that such a Congress has become possible is the result of the policy pursued by the country's leadership and personally by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The policy when civil society is given the road to implement various initiatives, which, among other things, support socially responsible commercial enterprises. There is an understanding that today it is important not only to do business, but also to support projects aimed at the spiritual development of young people and the wide popularization of the cultural heritage of Uzbekistan," Abdukhalikov stressed.

In addition, the first five volumes of books-albums from the series "Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan", published in three languages, were shown at the forum. These are the "Collection of the State Museum of the East" (Moscow), "Collection of the Russian Ethnographic Museum" (St. Petersburg), "Collection of the State Tretyakov Gallery" (Moscow), "Carpets and embroidery of Uzbekistan in the collections of the world" (Russia, USA, Canada, Australia), "Works of Alisher Navoi in the collection of the Russian National libraries" (St. Petersburg). Six more volumes are being prepared for printing. Their presentation was also held at the forum. These are "Musical Heritage of Uzbekistan", "Collection of the State Hermitage Museum", "Collection of the State Historical Museum", "Collection of the Institute of Oriental Manuscripts", "Carpet weaving of Uzbekistan: a tradition preserved for centuries" and "Collection of Museums in Germany".

Documentaries about the creation of these books and about the collections of Uzbekistan in the collections of various museums around the world were also presented to the Forum participants.

In addition to the exhibits themselves, the films included exclusive interviews with world-class scientists.

For the international forum, an organizing committee for the event was formed under the chairmanship of Akmal Saidov, Director of the National Center for Human Rights, Chairman of the Committee on Democratic Institutions, Non-Governmental Organizations and Citizens' Self-government bodies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The organizing committee includes representatives of academies and research organizations of Uzbekistan, international organizations, as well as foreign experts and scientists studying the cultural heritage of Uzbekistan.

"It so happened that numerous cultural values of Uzbekistan are stored in more than 40 museums around the world and numerous private collections. The final dinner of the forum was held in the Bagishamol Oriental Garden, recreated in the image of one of the seven gardens of Amir Temur around Samarkand. The dinner was accompanied by a performance of performers of national Uzbek classical music. The book-album "Musical Legacy of Uzbekistan" was presented at it.
