The Head of the Library of Congress of the United States expressed her deep gratitude, and also noted the high efficiency of the initiatives of the President of Uzbekistan Sh.M. Mirziyoyev in the preservation, protection, scientific study and wide promotion of the cultural legacy of Uzbekistan.
The visitors to the US Library of Congress will now be able to access the printed edition of the series' unique collection of albums. It should be noted that one of the albums entitled S. M. Prokudin-Gorsky and His Turkestan Series of Photographs in the US Library of Congress is dedicated directly to the collection of the Library of Congress.
The album presents the best examples of historical photographs made by one of the most famous photographers of the early 20th century. Thanks to the acquisition of the master's heritage by the US Library of Congress in 1948, it has survived to this day and is widely sought after by researchers and publishers. Along with the photographs, new archival documents devoted to the trips of S. M. Prokudin-Gorsky and some specific details of his biography are introduced into the scientific circulation for the first time. These trips were made in 1909-1912 within the Russian Empire. The book focuses on the history of his filming in Turkestan in 1906 and 1911 (three trips in one year) and an alleged journey to this region in 1905.
