The working group of the project Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan in the World Collections for the first time makes an attempt to systematize and comment on all known items found in Korea related to Central Asia.
The work is carried out under the guidance of Sergey Laptev, a Board member of the World Society for the Study, Preservation and Promotion of the Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan, a special researcher at the Miho Museum, with the assistance and participation of museum staff and scientists from Korea.
A preliminary catalog of objects of material culture has already been compiled. Images and annotations for masterpieces related to Central Asia are provided by scholars from museums in Korea.
The collection of the future book-album will include jewelry, weapons and various metal products, glass vessels, stone figurines and other rarities of the Kushan and Sogdian eras. At the moment, The book is being finalized.
The book will tell readers from different countries about the historical ties of the Koreans in Central Asia, and the Koreans of Uzbekistan - about the role of their homeland on the Great Silk Road, connecting various cultures of ancient times; will give a new impetus to the study of Korean culture, art, literature and history of this wonderful country, which has made a huge contribution to the development of contacts on the Great Silk Road, and will serve the cause of the cultural renaissance of the peoples of multinational Uzbekistan.
The presentation of the book-album Korea and Central Asia on the Great Silk Road will take place before the end of 2021.
