The guests enjoyed a presentation on the activities of the World Society, the results of its work and immediate plans. The meeting included the discussion of the practical issues of preparing the book-album Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan in the UAE Collections.

At the end of the visit, Eisa Yusif noted:

Sharjah Emirate Archeology Committee (UAE) has been studying the history of the Near and Middle East for many years. We conduct our research both in the UAE and in other countries. Dr. Jasim Sabah helps us in this work. We also cooperate with foreign scientific circles, including specialists from Kuwait, Yemen and Bahrain, as well as from France. The results of our work, as well as interesting discoveries, are reflected in the books we publish.

In certain areas, we also cooperate with Uzbek scholars. For several years we have been participanting in the congresses of the World Society for the Study, Preservation and Popularization of the Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan. With Mr. Sergey Laptev, board member of the World Society, we are conducting archaeological research, studying artifacts discovered in Central Asia, or found on the territory of the Arabian Peninsula along the routes of the Great Silk Road. This collaboration will hopefully help strengthen academic and cultural ties between the UAE and Uzbekistan.

Our countries are united by many historical factors, including the Great Silk Road. For example, coins from the Kushan Kingdom were found on the territory of the UAE. Centuries later, coins of the Abbasid dynasty were minted in Tashkent and Samarkand. Mawarannahr was a hub connecting East and West, South and North during the years of the Arab Caliphate.

The valuables once belonging to Caliph Mamun are kept in Uzbekistan. The emirate of Sharjah also has some valuable artifacts from the territory of Uzbekistan. All these monuments are evidence of close ties between our regions in the Middle Ages, thanks to active contacts along the Silk Road routes. Our plans include the preparation of a book-album dedicated to the cultural heritage of Uzbekistan in the UAE.

I would like to thank Mr. Abdukhalikov for the reception. I am sure that our cooperation in the format of the World Society for the Study, Preservation and Popularization of the Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan will bring bright results.
