The technique of glazing ceramics, which became widespread in the first centuries of the spread of Islam, made it possible to decorate vessels with colorful decor. Inscriptions on ceramics are divided mainly into two types - good wishes and wise sayings. The first type of inscriptions - good wishes with calls for inhumanity, health, well-being, luck and happiness of the owner of the vessel were, as a rule, anonymous. Such dishes are produced for the market and are intended for a wide range of educated buyers who have sufficient experience and are able to appreciate the beauty and luxury of the wallet.
However, occasionally there are inscriptions-good wishes with the name of the customer for whom a particular vessel was specially made, and, perhaps, an entire service. The most appropriate blessings on tableware include the expression "Eat (drink) to your health!" The second type of inscriptions - wise sayings - served people as instructions in life, were a kind of set of moral guidelines for a good Muslim who honored God and respected those in power. The inscriptions on the dishes also include hadiths, phrases of the Prophet Muhammad and his companions, proverbs and phrases, as well as quotes from popular works that circulated in the form of handwritten notes throughout the Islamic world.
