The Institute of Manuscripts of Azerbaijan was presented with 35 volumes from the Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan in World Collections series. This is reported by the press service of the World Society for the Study, Preservation and Popularization of the Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan.
The collection of books-albums was handed over by a delegation of the society headed by Chairman of its Board Firdavs Abdukhalikov during a meeting with Teymur Hashim oglu, Director of the Institute of Manuscripts, National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan. The parties discussed cooperation and joint work on a book dedicated to Uzbek collections in Azerbaijan.
Hashim oglu thanked the presidents of the two countries for their contribution to the unity and solidarity of the republics and noted the importance of culture in uniting peoples.
"The Azerbaijani side is glad to take part in such a large-scale and interesting project and share its manuscripts stored at the institute. Uzbekistan's efforts to study and preserve its cultural heritage are truly admirable. We thank the World Society for the 35 volumes of the books-album donated to our museum and look forward to the publication of a volume about the collections of our country," Hashim oglu said.
The participants of the meeting approved the list of manuscripts to be included in the album, and the museum specialists began to prepare material about the handwritten legacy of Uzbekistan stored at the Institute. Among them are over 90 manuscripts authored by Alisher Navoi, Bobur, Abu Ali ibn Sino, Imam al-Bukhari, Ulugbek and Jami. One of the gems in the collection is the manuscript Al-Qanun fi at-Tibb (Volume II) by Abu Ali ibn Sina (Avicenna) written in 537 AH/1143.
