The Regional Department for the Development of Tourism in Navoi Region together with the Central Asian Studies Institute (CASI) signed an agreement worth 1.1 million soums.
In accordance with the President's instructions, the historical sites of Kossim Shaikh, Mirsaid Bahrom, Rabati-Malik, Sardoba and Mavlono Orif Deggaroniy located in the Zarafshan-Karakum part of the Great Silk Road can be included in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List. It should be kept in mind that on May 20, 2019, the Regional Department for the Development of Tourism in the Navoi region and the Central Asian Studies Institute (CASI) signed an agreement with a total value of 1.1 million soums.
The document provides for three-stage work. At stage one, together with qualified specialists and foreign experts, measures for the protection and preservation of historical complexes were clearly defined. The second and third stages are aimed to prepare research documents on cultural sites for their inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
In addition, the initial data will be collected for writing the nomination text for the study of the condition of each monument.
Ultimately, this will make it possible not only to preserve cultural heritage sites, but also to create a tourist image of the Navoi region, develop the infrastructure of the region, implement investment projects in the field of tourism, as well as to create new jobs.
Uzbekistan became a member of the specialized organization for Education, Science and Culture under UNESCO in 1993. The Convention on the Safeguarding of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage was ratified by the Republic of Uzbekistan on December 22, 1995. Within the framework of an international agreement, Ichan-Kala in Khiva, the Samarkand as the Intersection of Cultures object, the historical centers of Bukhara and Shakhrisabz were included in the cultural heritage list, and the Chatkal biosphere in the natural heritage list.
In Navoi region, 5 historical sites can be included in the UNESCO list (sputniknews.uz)
