Two elements of the intangible cultural heritage of Uzbekistan were included in the UNESCO list.

Within the framework of the 17th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, two multinational elements with the participation of the Uzbek side were included in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage. This is reported by the press serviceof the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan.
It is known that the session takes place from November 28 to December 3 in Rabat, Morocco. Thus, the first file entitled "Sericulture and traditional silk production for weaving" was prepared by Uzbekistan together with Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Iran, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Turkey. The second nomination is entitled "Traditions of retelling the parables of Khoja Nasreddin", worked out by the Uzbek side together with Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Turkey.
The Evaluation Commission of the Committee highly appreciated the joint work of the states involved in the preparation of nomination documents and noted their compliance with all criteria for inclusion in the Representative List.
"Under the leadership of the head of our state, systematic work is being carried out to preserve and increase the rich intangible cultural heritage of our country. The inclusion of two more traditions in the UNESCO list is a vivid proof of this. Efforts made by Umid Shadiyev, Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to UNESCO, deserve special mentioning," said Aziz Abdukhakimov, Chairman of the National Commission of Uzbekistan for UNESCO.
Thus, the total number of elements of Uzbekistan included in the representative list has reached 11. Previously, this list included "Bakhshi", "Lazgi", "Palov", "Askia", "Miniature", "Navruz", "Shoshmakom" and others. Also, the Margilan Crafts Development Center for the Preservation of Traditional Satin and Adras Manufacturing Technologies is included in the Register of Best Practices for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.
