There are more than 300 architectural monuments in Bukhara included in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List.
UNESCO Director General Audrey Azoulay paid a visit to Bukhara during her trip to Uzbekistan, UzA reports.
She was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Aziz Abdukhakimov and Khokim of Bukhara region Utkam Barnoyev. Audrey Azoulay visited the historical sights of the city.
In particular, the Director General visited the ancient Ark fortress and acquainted herself with the exhibits of the Bukhara State Museum.
She also managed to visit the Poyi Kalon complex, which includes the Kalon minaret, Mir Arab madrassah and Kalon Mosque, as well as the Ismail Somoni mausoleum and Mirzo Ulugbek madrassah. Audrey Azoulay paid special attention to the works of local craftsmen and artisans.
