UNESCO Director General Audrey Azoulay opened a conference dedicated to the preservation of the cultural heritage of Samarkand.
The conference "Preservation of Tangible and Intangible Heritage: Current Problems and Strategies for Their Solution" opened in Samarkand.
UNESCO Director General Audrey Azoulay and Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdullah Aripov took the floor at the opening ceremony. According to the head of the organization, Samarkand is one of the most unique cities in Central Asia.
It can rightfully be considered the face and trademark of not only Uzbekistan, but also the entire region. However, the preservation of its unique heritage is a common task, in solving which we all must act together.
Audrey Azoulay is visiting Uzbekistan for the first time. She will also open the Shark Taronalari festival, in which the head of state will take part, after which she will also visit Bukhara.
