The mere enumeration of the names of the outstanding and incomparable people who lived and worked in Herat at that time is admirable: the great poet and philosopher Abd al-Rahman Jami who was the spiritual leader of the Herat society; the outstanding poet, philosopher and philanthropist Alisher Navoi, the vizier and treasurer of Sultan Husayn, who contributed to the development of poetry in the Turkic language; poets Bennai, Husain Voiz Kashifi, Khatifi; historians Mirkhond and Khondamir; “King of calligraphers” Sultan-Ali Mashhadi; no less famous calligrapher, his disciple Mir Ali Haravi; famous artists Mirak Naqqosh, Wali Allah, Behzad and his disciples: Kasim Ali Sheikh-zadeh; musicians and dancers – Sheikh Nayi, Udi, Sayyid Badr, etc.
Patronizing people of science and art in every possible way, possessing a delicate artistic taste, Sultan Husayn who spoke perfectly both Persian and Turkic had a talent for poetry. His Divan which included lyric gazelles written by him under the pseudonym Husayni was highly appreciated by A. Navoi in the last volume of Majalis al-Nafais, entirely devoted to the works of Sultan Husayn.
