What is included in the Kokand State Museum-Reserve?‌‌

Following the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On approval of the program to improve the activities and strengthen the material and technical base of museums for 2017 – 2027” (December 11, 2017), the Kokand City Museum of Local History was transformed into the Kokand State Museum of History and Culture.

It also includes the Kokand Literary Museum and its branch – the former memorial museum of Hamza Hakimzade Niyazi. In 2018, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Sh. M. Mirziyoyev, initiated the establishment of the Museum of Great Thinkers in the former Hamza memorial museum.

The museum-reserve includes 6 museums and 4 monuments of cultural heritage. They are:

– Kokand State Museum-Reserve, which main premises are located in the Khudoyarkhan urda (palace);
– Museum of Applied Arts (Jami Mosque-Madrasah);
– Museum of Great Scholars (a special building constructed for the museum);
– Literary Museum (former State Bank building);
– Mukimi Cell-Museum (Sahibzoda Hazrat, Miyon Hazrat Madrasah);
– House-museum of Hamza Hakimzade Niyazi (traditional 19th-century Uzbek house);
– Norbutabiy Madrasah;
– Dakhmai Modarikhan Mausoleum;
– Dasturkhanchi Madrasah;
