Do you know why the Japanese are interested in Central Asia?‌‌

For the Japanese, Central Asia historically has always been perceived through the Great Silk Road, and Uzbekistan was as one of the countries historically connected with Japan through this trade and cultural artery.

Therefore, attention to Central Asia in Japan is usually interconnected with interest in the Silk Road, as well as in the origins of Buddhism, which in Japan is associated not only with India (place of origin), but also with Central Asia, where medieval Chinese monks went for Buddhist sutras.

It is through this civilization-cultural mechanism of interaction between different peoples in the Eurasian area, that Japan and the Japanese view countries located to the west of it, starting from Korea and China and ending with the civilizations of Greece and Rome.

You can learn more about the topic in the book-album "Cultural legacy of Central Asia in Japanese Museums" (volume XX) in the series "Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan in the World Collections".
