Ancient foreign publications dedicated to Amir Temur

Among the foreign publications stored in the National Library of Uzbekistan and dedicated to Timurid history is the work of the famous medieval author Sharaf ad Din Ali Yazdi “Zafarnama” (“Book of Victories”).

“Book of Victories” published in French and entitled “Histoire de Timur-Bec” (“History Timurbek"). The translator of the book was Petit de la Cour. The book was published in Paris in 1723 in a four-volume format.

Another book translated into French is the publication Institutes political and military... (Political and military codes...) by the great ruler Amir Timur. The book was published in Persian and English by Major Davy and Arabic scholar Professor White and is 408 pages long. The original of the publication is the famous work Timur Tuzuklari (Codes of Timur), originally written in the Turkic language. In 1610, Abutalib Al-Hussein, a court translator of the King of Yemen, wrote that the book had been kept in the royal Jafar library and he had translated the Codes into Persian in 1610 – 1612. Later, the Codes were translated into English.

You can learn more about the topic in the book-album "The Manuscript and Book Heritage of the National Library of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi" (Volume XLI) in the series "The Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan".
