During its 150-year activity, the Alisher Navoi National Library of Uzbekistan has accumulated a huge academic heritage. Its most interesting part is presented in this edition. It includes rarest handwritten and printed works, including examples of European medieval printing, albums and periodicals stored in the Manuscript Collection, as well as unique and especially valuable publications. So, in the manuscript Laws of Power and Religious Rule by Abulhasan Mawardi, an encyclopedic scholar and specialist in Islam, who lived in the 10th-11th centuries, we can find answers to the questions of what qualities an ideal ruler should have. The Turkestan Collection, a rarest document written in the 19th and early 20th centuries, will allow the readers to acquaint themselves with unique bibliographic, historical, artistic, academic and literary sources. Of particular interest is also the Turkestan Album published in 1871-1872. It boasts a collection of the first photographs dedicated to the history, ethnography, geography, economy and culture of Central Asia. The authors of the volume also paid attention to sources in English, French and German. Finally, the National Library has a unique copy of the Quran in German, translated in 1901 by the German orientalist Max Benning.
