What year did the National Library receive its new building?

The library opened its doors to the public in December 2011. The new building is located in the heart of Tashkent, within the "Ma'rifat Markazi" architectural complex. The goal of the construction was to create the necessary conditions to meet the informational, scientific-educational, and cultural needs of the population, especially young people, using modern technologies.

The new building covers a total area of 38,000 square meters and includes key operational areas, reader service areas, storage spaces for the collections, and a hall for hosting international symposia.

You can learn more about the topic in the book-album "The Manuscript and Book Heritage of the National Library of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi" (Volume XLI) in the series "The Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan".

The main sponsor of the project is the oilfield services company Eriell-Group.
