Acquisition was achieved through donations of manuscripts and purchases of single copies “on the cheap.”
Since 1918, the library has been able to acquire not only individual manuscripts, but also entire collections in hundreds of volumes. A collection of such exceptional value as the collection of manuscripts of the last Bukhara “supreme judge” Sharifdzhan-Makhdum, the collection of V.L. Vyatkin and others were acquired.
You can learn more about the topic in the book-album "The Manuscript and Book Heritage of the National Library of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi" (Volume XLI) in the series "The Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan".
