
There are different local types of embroidery: Bukhara, Nurata, Shakhrisabz, Samarkand, Tashkent, Fergana. Embroidery from Uzbekistan is deservedly appreciated abroad. Created by the skillful hands of craftswomen, they decorate the exhibitions of many museums around the world, revealing another facet of the history, culture and soul of the people.
Among the floral motifs of embroidery it is possible tofind iris, carnation, tulip, cockscomb, apple flower and others, and among the fruits – images of pomegranate, symbolizing fertility, cherry, sweet cherry, almond, pepper, poppy. The motif of a flower is known, which is similar in outline to a tulip or lily; a similar flower takes place in ancient works of the Central Asian art. It is one of the attributes of Anahita – the patroness of fertility in the Zoroastrian pantheon.
