The National Library of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi is a state universal information library organizing and carrying out information and library activities in the Republic of Uzbekistan in the interests of the development of national and world culture, science and education.

The Information and library fund keeps about 7 million publications in more than 75 languages of the world such as manuscripts, books, magazines, newspapers, dissertations, abstracts, music publications, literature on the visual arts, audiovisual materials, and electronic documents. The library is entrusted with the responsible mission of permanent storage of the most complete information and library fund of the country.

Since 2002, the National Library of Uzbekistan houses a unique collection of the national press which includes over 3.5 million printed publications of all types kept in the National Book Chamber of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Scientific and technical literature occupies a significant place in the fund: books, periodicals and scientific journals of leading publishing houses and aggregators of scientific and technical information obtained by subscription of such companies as eLibrary.Ru (Russia), Springer Nature (Germany), EBSCO Publishing (USA), EBSCO Information Services GmbH” (Germany), ProQuest (USA), etc. both in traditional and electronic form.
