The project Architectural Epigraphy of Uzbekistan was presented in Tashkent

A presentation of the project Architectural Epigraphy of Uzbekistan was held in Tashkent. As part of the first stage of the project, 12 volumes of books-albums on the epigraphy of Uzbekistan were presented.

 

The presentation was attended by representatives of the academic circles of Uzbekistan, state and public organizations, as well as a number of international organizations, diplomatic missions and the media.

 

The project was implemented with the support of the Government of Uzbekistan. Within the framework of the project, the epigraphy of all architectural monuments located on the territory of Uzbekistan were studied and summarized into a single set.


This year, the first stage of the project on the publication of 12 volumes on the epigraphy of Karakalpakstan, Andijan, Namangan, Fergana, Samarkand (epigraphy of the Shahi-Zinda and Registan complexes), Navoi, Khiva, Surkhandarya, Kashkadarya, Bukhara and Tashkent city has been completed.

 

The second stage of the project will cover the remaining unexplored epigraphic inscriptions throughout Uzbekistan. A total of 25 volumes are planned for publication.

 

During the research, the inscriptions of more than 1.5 thousand epigraphic monuments were read and translated (most of them for the first time), including over 200 poems, edifications, wise sayings, more than 100 names of masters and calligraphers, 300 religious and 150 dedicatory inscriptions, 150 chronograms and 100 historical dates, 100 decrees of rulers.
