Who is the Khazrati Imam?

Researchers have put forward two assumptions about in whose honor the mausoleum of Jahangir (or Khazrati Imam) was built, which is the main monument of the Dar us-Sadat architectural complex, located in the southeastern part of the city of Shahrisabz, Qashqadaryo region.

That is, some sources claim that the complex was constructed after the death of Amir Temur's eldest son and heir, Mirzo Jahangir (d. 1376), others argue that the mausoleum was dedicated to Saint Khazrat-i Imam, who is mistakenly identified with his namesake Muhammad al-Shaybani.

So, who is the Khazrati Imam?

According to information, Imam Muhammad ibn Hasan al-Shaybani was known by the nickname Imam al-Baghdadi (died in Paradise in 189/804–805 at the age of 85). Disciple of Imam Abu Hanifa. The narratives say that he wrote 999 books.

It should be noted that researcher M.E. Masson, based on historical data, came to the conclusion that Prince Jahangir Mirza was buried in the mausoleum.‌‌
