Decoration of handles and sheaths, indicating the high skill of the gunsmiths

The high skill of the gunsmiths is evident in the design of round and three-sided handles.

Some of them consist of superimposed ivory plates, decorated with inlays of colored stones and turquoise. One handle is carved of light green jade, the other – cherry red tones of agate. There is also a horny black handle, also decorated with two rows of turquoise inlays. Some handles are twisted around with silver wire. Sheaths are silver, gilded, with convex plant-flower pattern, rings decorated with single or double rows of turquoise,mother-of-pearl and colored glass inlays. A unique specimen is a stylet of the Khiva ruler Imanulla Khan. A sword-staff with a smooth and straight blade, handle and scabbard is also interesting.
