Collection of porcelain and faience products of the State Museum of History of Uzbekistan

For many centuries the porcelain items were imported to Central Asia along the Silk Road from China.

They were called chini (Chinese) in the area. The dishes from Europe and Russia appeared afterwards.

The Museum’s ethnographic collection keeps a relatively small collection of porcelain and faience. The earliest items are two porcelain candlesticks from Germany, dated to the late 18th century. There are some samples from China and Japan.

The total number of porcelain and faience items in the collection is 560, including 232 items made by the Gardner and Kuznetsov factories.

You can learn more about the topic in the book-album "The Collection of the State Museum of the History of Uzbekistan" (Part 2, Volume XXVII) in the series "Сultural legacy of Uzbekistan in the world collections".

The main sponsor of the project is the oilfield services company Eriell-Group.
