Mahmud Erol Kılıç is the General Director of the Research Center for Islamic History, Art, and Culture (IRCICA). 

Mahmud Erol Kılıç is the General Director of the Research Center for Islamic History, Art, and Culture (IRCICA) in Istanbul. He is a recognized expert in the field of Islamic history, art, and culture, a scholarly researcher, and the author of numerous academic publications. 

He obtained his Ph.D. degree in Islamic History from the Faculty of Islamic History at Ankara University in 1990. He then embarked on his career at IRCICA, holding various positions, and ultimately assuming the role of General Director in 2013. 

Mahmud Erol Kılıç is the author and co-author of more than 20 books and over 200 scholarly articles on Islamic history, art, and culture. His works encompass various topics including Islamic calligraphy, Islamic sciences, the study of the Muslim world, mosque architecture, and many others. 

He is a member of numerous scholarly committees and organizations worldwide, including the International Institute of Islamic Thought and the Institute for the Study of Islam in the World. He is also a guest lecturer at many international conferences and seminars on Islamic history, art, and culture. 

Mahmud Erol Kılıç has received numerous awards for his work in the field of Islamic history, art, and culture, including the Order of the Rising Sun from the Government of Japan in 2016 and the Medal of Marist College from Marist College in the United States in 2019.
