MUSLIM SHARES OF UZBEKISTAN
Description
Muslim shrines of Uzbekistan
Uzbekistan is one of the countries of the Islamic world, which has made a significant contribution to the development of Muslim civilization. This contribution is especially impressively represented by architectural monuments.
The history of the construction of Muslim shrines and related events is described in detail in this monograph, which presents the most significant monuments of the Middle Ages located on the territory of Uzbekistan.
The first mosques, intended not only for the conquerors - Arabs, but also for the conversion of local residents to Islam, began to be built, perhaps already in the late 7th century, in Bukhara, Samarkand and other large major urban centers on the site of ancient pagan temples.
Subsequently, other types of structures characteristic of Islamic civilization, both religious and secular, began to emerge. This is how the first minarets, mosques, mausoleums, madrasahs, various palaces of ruling dynasties, and many more appeared.
The reader will find a variety of information about the masterpieces of Muslim architecture in Bukhara and Samarkand, Khiva, Shakhrisabz, Tashkent, Termez and Sherabad on the pages of the book, getting acquainted with the history of their construction, architectural and artistic features.
