What did the women's costume consist of in Samarkand?

The traditional clothes of women consisted of a shirt (dress), pants, outerwear (munisak, paranji, robe), headwear and footwear.

Casual clothes and ritual did not differ in cut, but the color, texture of the fabric and presence of ornaments marked the ritual purpose of clothing.

In a general set of women’s costume, a special place was held by a dress shirt, similar to the male, which was acquiring new parts (cutting collar, yoke, etc.), eventually lost its original form. Nevertheless, in some areas, until the beginning of the 20th century, they wore shirts of the old cut.

You will find more examples of national Uzbek clothes in the book-album "Traditional Uzbek costume on materials of museum and private collections of Uzbekistan (Part 1)" (volume XLVIII) from the series "Cultural legacy of Uzbekistan in the world collections."

The general sponsor of the project is the oilfield services company Eriell-Group.
