What kind of robes did the men of Tashkent and Fergana wear?

Men’s robes of the latter half of the 19th – early 20th century were varied; they for summer and winter wear, elegant and casual.

Depending on the purpose, they are called tun, chopon, avrah-tun, chakman and yaktak.

The robes of Fergana Valley and Tashkent had a mild, semi-clinging silhouette for those gowns that were worn directly on underwear shirt and sewed very wide – for the top, worn over an another robe. Their cut was traditional tunic with whole of sleeves.

You will find more examples of national Uzbek clothes in the book-album "Traditional Uzbek costume on materials of museum and private collections of Uzbekistan (Part 1)" (volume XLVIII) from the series "Cultural legacy of Uzbekistan in the world collections."

The general sponsor of the project is the oilfield services company Eriell-Group.
