Buildings were decorated so that the brick body of the construction was sheathed in a layer of glazed ceramic which could be smooth, lightly textured or deeply moulded.19 Alternating sequences of glazed and unglazed bricks arranged as rectilinear geometric patterns or inscriptions covered exterior walls, sometimes with tiles inserted at regullar intervals.
You can get acquainted with other examples of ancient ceramics of Uzbekistan in the book-album “Ceramics of Uzbekistan in the world collections” (volume XLIV) of the series “Cultural legacy of Uzbekistan in the world collections”.
The general sponsor of the project is the oil service company Eriell-Group.
