The export of our cultural assets to Kazakhstan and Russia has been prevented

Employees of the Customs Administration of the Republic of Karakalpakstan prevented the illegal export of cultural heritage sites and antiquities across the border, the information service of the Customs Committee of Uzbekistan reported.

 

During the customs inspection of the hand luggage of a citizen flying to the Republic of Kazakhstan on the "Nukus – Almaty" route, it was established that the passenger attempted to export 3 antique jewelry items—1 pendant chain and 2 bracelets—without any relevant documentation.

During the inspection of a passenger train on the "Tashkent – Volgograd" route, it was revealed that one of the passengers had 25 types of cultural artifacts dating back to 1918–1995, totaling 35 items. An attempt to illegally export these cultural assets to the Russian Federation was stopped in a timely manner.

The Customs Committee reminded that the export of items of historical and cultural significance abroad is carried out on the basis of appropriate permits and documents in the manner prescribed by law.
