Messages of the Middle Ages and secrets of the past: a book with unique manuscripts by great poets and thinkers to be published in Uzbekistan for the first time

The World Society for the Study, Preservation and Popularization of the Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan is working on an illustrated book-album dedicated to the collection of the Alisher Navoi State Museum of Literature, one of the best museums in Tashkent.

The colorful edition will tell about the museum's selected exhibits – about 100 rare and most valuable manuscripts. The most unique of them is the manuscript of Hamsa by Alisher Navoi copied in 1842 in Kokand. This manuscript contains 45 rarest wonderful miniatures made by medieval artists.

In addition, the book will feature the manuscript of Alisher Navoi's Badaya-ul-Bidaya copied in Herat in 1486, the manuscript of Mahmud Zamahshariy's Mukaddimat-ul-Adab, the manuscript of Alisher Navoi's Diwan copied in Bukhara in 1526 and the manuscript of Zahriddin Muhammad Bobur's Mubayyin copied in the 16th century.

Shahlo Abdullayeva, the curator of the book-album, PhD in Art History, told about the exhibits that will also be included in the publication.

"In addition to the mentioned manuscripts, the Museum of Literature has an extensive fine art collection – paintings, sculptures and items of decorative and applied art. On the walls of the exposition on the second floor there is a monumental painting by the People's Artist of Uzbekistan Chingiz Akhmarov, whose plot is borrowed from works by oriental poets, in particular Alisher Navoi. Other interesting works include portraits of Uzbek writers and poets, such as Chulpon, Kodiriy, Oybek, Zulfiya and many other," Shahlo Abdullayeva said.

"The World Society has always paid great attention to the collections of art and culture in national museums. Truly rare and valuable treasures are kept in our country, and we strive to make the whole world know about this heritage," added Firdavs Abdukhalikov, Chairman of the World Society for the Study, Preservation and Popularization of the Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan.

The Alisher Navoi State Museum of Literature a work of art in itself. The museum building is a unique historical architectural monument, founded in 1939 in honor of the 500th anniversary of the birth of Alisher Navoi.
