The 47th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee was held in Paris. At the session meeting, a positive decision was made to preserve the status of the city of Shakhrisabz in the World Heritage List.
The Committee highly appreciated Uzbekistan's efforts to preserve this site and emphasized the importance of effective cooperation with the UNESCO World Heritage Center and ICOMOS (International Council for the Preservation of Monuments and Sites).
As the next stage, Uzbekistan was given three years to prepare a repeat nomination. In it, special emphasis is placed on the architectural heritage of the Timurid era, reflecting the unique historical role of Shakhrisabz as a political, cultural, and religious center.
The historical part of the city is planned to be designated as a buffer zone, which will allow for more effective preservation of its cultural value.
