On October 23, as part of Uzbekistan’s International Cultural Heritage Week, the State Museum of Timurid History hosted international conferences and unique exhibitions on the theme "The Phenomenon of Eastern Renaissances: States, Religions, Personalities, and Civilizations." The event brought together 200 scholars from 20 countries.
In the first half of the day, the State Museum of Timurid History opened the exhibition "Numismatic Collection of the State Museum of Timurid History." The display features unique coins minted during the reign of Amir Timur and his descendants.
At the event, welcoming speeches were delivered by Khurshid Fayziev, Director of the State Museum of Timurid History, Candidate of Historical Sciences, and Associate Professor, and Firdavs Abdukhalikov, Director of the Center for Islamic Civilization and Chairman of the World Society for the Study, Preservation, and Popularization of Uzbekistan's Cultural Heritage.
Khurshid Fayziev, Director of the State Museum of Timurid History:
“Today, within the framework of the International Cultural Heritage Week, the State Museum of Timurid History is hosting a forum titled ‘Journey into the Timurid Era.’ This forum includes not only local scholars specializing in Timurid studies but also a number of international researchers focused on the history, culture, and art of this period. One of the significant events is the establishment of the Center for Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan — a process initiated by our esteemed President, marking a historic milestone. As part of the forum, there are not only presentations on the Timurid period but also presentations of scientific projects, conducted in collaboration with international scholars, aimed at enriching the exposition and content of the Center for Islamic Civilization.”
Following the exhibition presentations, one of the key events was the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between the Scientific Council of the Center for Islamic Civilization and the State Museum of Timurid History.
In the second half of the day, an exhibition of archaeological and ethnographic masterpieces was opened at the Tashkent branch of the State Museum of the History of Uzbekistan, the oldest museum in the country. Additionally, the museum hosted an international conference titled "Journey into the Timurid Era."
