Cultural Heritage and Modern Transformations of Uzbek Cities

A representative of British academic circles, Director of the Ibn Battuta International Center for Intercultural Studies, Abbas Panakkal, took part in an event held during the week, presenting the project "Ancient Cities Mentioned by Ibn Battuta: Heritage and Modern Transformations of Uzbek Cities."

Abbas Panakkal, Director of the Ibn Battuta International Center for Intercultural Studies, commented:

"The events and various exhibitions held during this week leave a warm impression on all participants. Such meetings play an important role in promoting broader scientific research. Uzbekistan is a country with a rich history and culture. The exchange of experience and knowledge with scholars from different countries lays the foundation for promising future collaborations."

"Ibn Battuta traveled from Europe to China, as well as to Africa. He also visited the territories of Uzbekistan and India. In this way, he gathered this heritage, bringing with him a number of unique artifacts. He was a renowned scholar and theologian. The land of Uzbekistan, in turn, was a land of hadiths and scholarly activity, so it is natural that he mentioned very important figures here. He noted that, upon visiting these regions, he performed ziyarat at the tomb of Imam Bukhari. He also spoke about the scholars of this region and was a guest of many rulers," Panakkal emphasized.
