It is in this city that the Gumbazi Sayyidan mausoleum is located, built in 1437 by order of the famous Mirzo Ulugbek (1409-1449), grandson of Amir Timur, for members of the Termez branch of the Sayyids (descendants of the Prophet). The interior of the mausoleum is decorated with various patterns made with natural mineral dyes. Large tombstones with inscriptions have been preserved in the burial chamber.
