The VIII International Congress "The Heritage of Great Ancestors - the Foundation of the Third Renaissance" will be held from August 23rd to 26th in Tashkent and Samarkand.

A press conference was held today in the capital dedicated to this prestigious international event and its role in promoting the rich cultural and spiritual heritage of our country.

The press conference was attended by the Chairman of the World Society for the Study, Preservation, and Popularization of Cultural Legacy Uzbekistan, Director of the Center for Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan, Firdavs Abdukhalikov; the Secretary General of TURKSOY, Sultan Raev; the President of the International Turkic Academy, Academician Shahin Mustafaev, and others. They emphasized that the traditional holding of the VIII International Congress "The Legacy of Great Ancestors - the Foundation of the Third Renaissance" is of great importance in promoting the path of development of New Uzbekistan in the cultural and humanitarian sphere, the achievements made during the period of new growth and reforms in the religious and educational field.

As noted at the press conference, the proposal to hold the VIII Congress of the World Society for the Study, Preservation, and Popularization of Uzbekistan's Cultural Heritage was put forward at the forum "The Legacy of Great Ancestors - the Foundation of the Third Renaissance," which was held on July 3rd and 4th, 2024. This proposal was supported by the leadership of our country, and a resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers was adopted "On the Preparation and Holding at a High Level of the VIII International Congress "The Legacy of Great Ancestors - the Foundation of the Third Renaissance."

–  Under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, our country is implementing large-scale work to create the foundation for the Third Renaissance, – said the director of the Center for Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan, Firdavs Abdukhalikov. – Science, education, and culture are developing.  Seven years ago, by the decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Center for Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan was established with the aim of achieving these noble goals. Today we see the results of this work. It is important to note that from August 23rd to 26th, the VIII International Congress will be held in Tashkent and Samarkand, organized by the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Center for Islamic Civilization, the World Society for the Study, Preservation, and Popularization of Uzbekistan's Cultural Legacy (WOSCU), and the oil service company "Eriell Group." Its main goal is to promote the path of development of New Uzbekistan in the cultural and humanitarian sphere, the achievements made during the period of new growth and reforms in the religious and educational field, as well as to establish effective cooperation with local scientists and the international community of scientific experts to study, preserve, and popularize the rich cultural and spiritual heritage of our people.

 

Detailed information about the participants of the Congress was also presented at the event.  The participation of over 200 scholars, museum and library directors, representatives of international and foreign organizations from over 30 countries is expected, including the Secretary General of TURKSOY, Sultan Raev; the Director General of the Research Center for the History, Art, and Culture of Islam (IRCICA), Mahmut Erol Kilic; the Executive Director of the Al-Furqan Islamic Heritage Foundation, Sali Shahsivari; the President of the International Turkic Academy, Academician Shohin Mustafaev; the founder and president of the Institute of Central Asia and the Caucasus, Professor Frederick Starr; and the founder and general producer of the "1001 Discoveries of Islamic Scholars" project, Ahmad Salim.

In an interview after the press conference, the President of the International Turkic Academy, Academician Shahin Mustafaev, stressed that the organization of such a large-scale international congress should be a regular occurrence.
 

“This event is significant not only for the popularization and study of Uzbekistan's rich cultural and spiritual heritage but also for all Turkic peoples. Cooperation with international and foreign organizations and conducting research presents a tremendous opportunity. Speaking of plans, we are planning to sign a memorandum of cooperation between the International Turkic Academy and the World Society for the Study, Preservation, and Popularization of Cultural Legacy Uzbekistan. It envisages joint work on conducting scientific research and various events," said Sh. Mustafaev.

It was also noted at the press conference that the signing of memorandums is planned for the implementation of a number of important projects aimed at studying and popularizing the contribution of scholars from Uzbekistan to the development of world civilization, as well as preserving Uzbekistan’s cultural and historical heritage.

As part of the congress, participants will visit the building of the Center for Islamic Civilization under construction in Tashkent on August 23rd. On August 24th and 25th, seven sessions, a film and media forum in cooperation with TURKSOY, as well as a number of exhibitions and presentations will be held in the “Silk Road Samarkand” congress hall in Samarkand.
