The event will take place with the organizational and financial support of the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the ERIELL GROUP Oil Service Company, with the participation of partners represented by TURKSOY, IRCICA, and the Al-Furqan Foundation.
The main issue of the 8th Congress will be the content of the museums of the Center of Islamic Civilization and Imam Bukhari. The decision on this was made in July, 2024 during the Legacy of the Great Ancestors: the Foundation of the Third Renaissance Forum organized by the Center of Islamic Civilization with the participation of 600 scholars from all over the world.
About 300 world-renowned scholars from 35 countries will take part in the Congress. The participation of 180 foreign and 110 Uzbek experts is expected. Among them are 15 academicians, 40 professors and associate professors, 103 doctors of science, 54 directors of museums and libraries, 5 rectors of universities, directors of 5 publishing houses, heads of IRCICA, ISESCO, TURKSOY, and Al-Furqan Foundation, repre- sentatives of the International Turkish Academy, Arab League states and other international organizations. Also journalists from 20 foreign media, including CNN, Euronews, Rossiya-Kultura, Mir, Rossiya-24, and television channels from Central Asian countries have been invited.
In preparation for the Congress, on August 22, a presentation of the new book by the Secretary General of the TURKSOY International Cultural Organization Sultan Rayev “Tanlangan Asarlar” will take place, as well as a press conference dedicated to the 8th Congress, with the participation of the event organizers and media representatives.
On the eve of the opening of the Congress on the morning of August 23, participants will be given a tour of the Center of Islamic Civilization under construction in Tashkent, and a documentary film about the pro- gress of construction work will be shown. There will be a presentation of the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan project and a tour of the exhibition of planned projects, as well as a mock-up of one of the Center’s expositions.
In the afternoon, participants will be transported to Samarkand, where they will visit the ongoing memorial complex of the great Imam Bukhari and take part in a reception in honor of the opening of the 8th International Congress on behalf of the Eriell Group.
The opening ceremony of the 8th Congress will take place on August 24. For the first time in history, it will be held in the Congress Hall of the Silk Road Samarkand Complex, and further work of scholars during the event will also take place there, which will certainly give additional impetus to fruitful work and bring an unforgettable experience to participants of the Congress.
After the welcoming words of the officials, a plenary session will begin, during which foreign designers will present their projects and vision of the Center of Islamic Civilization. The concept of exhibitions for the Center and Al-Bukhari museums will be presented by the scholars themselves. National experts will present joint projects, including videos on the exhibitions of the Center of Islamic Civilization and the Imam Bukhari Innovative Museum.
At the end of the plenary session, the experts will be divided into seven thematic sections and will begin discussions and discussions of the presented projects on the topic of exhibitions in the museum halls of the Center of Islamic Civilization and the Imam Bukhari Museum. Over a hundred scholars will give unique presentations. A separate block is planned for the presentation of modern technological projects with the participation of specialists from the USA and Russia for the museums of the Center for Islamic Civilization and Imam Bukhari. Based on the results of discussions and reports heard in each of the seven sections, project proposals for the exhibition of museum halls will be approved.
In parallel with the work of scholars, the TURKSOY Forum will start in the Diamond Ballroom, in which, among other things, representatives of the film industry from Turkic-speaking countries will be involved. Film presentations will take place.
On the third working day of the Congress, August 25, presentations of key projects will take place. New
publications from the Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan in the World Collections series, Qurans of Uzbekistan, facsimiles of unique manuscripts, innovative projects for the museums of the Center for Islamic Civilization and Imam Al-Bukhari will be presented. In parallel, the Forum of the TURKSOY International Cultural Organization will continue, following which memorandums will be signed and the TURKSOY Forum Resolution “New Renaissance: Cinema and Media in Support of Heritage” will be adopted.
On the final day of the Congress, August 26, the results of the summit will be summed up, the road map
of joint projects of the Center of Islamic Civilization and the composition of the International Expert Council of the Center of Islamic Civilization will be approved, the International “Golden Book” awards will be awarded, and the traditional address of the participants of the 8th International will be accepted. The day will end with participation in the opening ceremony of the world-famous Sharq Taronalari International Festival.
