"Kok Gumbaz" in Shahrisabz: How is it connected to the tomb of our Prophet?

"Kok Gumbaz" in Shahrisabz: How is it connected to the tomb of our Prophet?

Based on inscriptions restored as a result of repair and restoration work, the Kok Gumbaz mosque, the main monument of the “Dar ut-tilavat” complex in Shahrisabz and built in 839/1435, is described as “a mosque embodying beauty, grace of form and many other high qualities.”

However, the inscriptions on it have suffered significant losses. For example, according to researchers of the book-album "Architectural Epigraphy of Uzbekistan" dedicated to the Kashkadarya region, published as part of the "Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan in World Collections" project, many errors were made during the repair and restoration of inscriptions on the right cheek wall of the mosque.

Taking into account these omissions, we offer a more complete text of the inscription, in which the parts rewritten by Mirza ‘Abdurahman are taken in square brackets.

This cathedral [mosque], an embodiment of beauty, dainty forms and many other lofty qualities. It is crowned by a green dome, as if above a green city...
... Kuragan (?), created by Sultan, Sultan's son – Ulugbek Kuragan May Allah make his rule immortal!
Its construction was finished in the year 1435-36.

In this inscription, the dome of the mosque in Shahrisabz is compared to the dome of the Prophet’s tomb – Rauza-e-Mutahhara. This is because this dome is green. Also, in this inscription there is a mention of the medieval name of Kesh – Shahrisabz, which means "Green city." In this inscription, the name of Mirzo Ulughbek is highlighted in yellow letters ("under gold").
