What are the types of copper and brass products?

The making of metal art is one of the oldest crafts and applied arts, second only to pottery.

In Uzbekistan, this craft, with its centuries-old traditions, has been developing for a long time in a variety of local schools and centers. By execution technique, copper and brass products are divided into cast and forged. The local uniqueness of such products is most clearly manifested primarily in the ornamental decoration. The decor is applied by hammering - kandakori, embossing - bosma and engraving or cutting with a chisel - chizma. Casting and openwork chasing shabaka were used to make lids, handles, and stands for vessels. A large number of products are made in the technique of flat incised carving and deep carving with openwork patterned ornament.

You can learn more about the topic in the book-album "The Collection of the State Museum of Applied Art and Handicraft’s History of Uzbekistan" (XXXIX volume) from the series "The Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan".

The main sponsor of the project is the oilfield services company Eriell-Group.
