One of the largest libraries in Asia...

Historians may have taken the liberty to praise the houses of Nawwābs of India for many attributes elaborated otherwise, but Nawwābs of Rampur should be kept at a high pedestal for their patronage to litterateurs and artists. Their love for literature has made the Raza Library one of the largest libraries in Asia. Its hand-written works section itself runs into more than 17 thousand manuscripts on different subjects, besides other collections of paintings, artifacts, coins and antiquities, printed books and periodicals.

After the independence of many Central Asian countries from the shackles of the USSR, a new awareness of conserving the tangible and intangible heritage was seen among their people. Uzbekistan took a lead in making strides towards making serious efforts in this arena. This may be because of the fact that its land has given birth to many souls who made a distinct dent in attracting the attention of the world in many respects.

You can learn more about the topic in the book-album "Literary legacy of Uzbekistan in the Collection of the Rampur raza Library" (volume XXXIII) in the series "Cultural legacy of Uzbekistan in the Collections of the World".
