What did young Karakalpak girls wear on their heads?

At the beginning of the 20th century, the tahia decorated with coins and corals wore only by teenage girls up to 14 – 45 years.

On the sides of the caps were attached long thin tassels of silk cords with beads strung on them or narrow strips of silk fabric covered with embroidery and beads and coins sewn on them. Girls wore a tahia without kerchiefs, and girls over the head tied small kerchiefs oraypek, leaving the front of the elegant tahia open.

You will find more examples of national Uzbek clothes in the book-album "Traditional Uzbek costume on materials of museum and private collections of Uzbekistan (Part 2)" (volume XLIX) from the series "Cultural legacy of Uzbekistan in the world collections".

The general sponsor of the project is the oilfield services company Eriell-Group.
