Zhegde as Karakalpak analogue of the paranji

HOW TO BECOME A FRIEND OF THE WORLD SOCIETY?

Zhegde as Karakalpak analogue of the paranji

Women’s going-out garments included the head cover zhegde.

Unlike the Uzbek paranji, it was short to the knees and hadn’t a chachvan. Its long, false tapering slightly sleeves hanging freely on the back were not stitched together. Girls and young women wore zhepek zhedge red and purple hues. They sewed them from glossy fabric alasha in small strips or silk, richly decorated the collars with a wide strip of embroidery and silk tassels. On both sides of zhegde at the chest was sewn a woven braid with silver pendants, which played the role of ties.

You will find more examples of national Uzbek clothes in the book-album "Traditional Uzbek costume on materials of museum and private collections of Uzbekistan (Part 2)" (volume XLIX) from the series "Cultural legacy of Uzbekistan in the world collections".

The general sponsor of the project is the oilfield services company Eriell-Group.
