What did the festive outfits of Karakalpak women look like?

Elegant dresses made of expensive silk ikat fabrics form dense pashshayi with green-blue patterns, Bukhara shahi, smooth-colored, moiré fabric torqa.

Fabric for shirts of girls and young women were chosen the red color of various shades. Festive dresses had richly embroidered collars. There were two kinds of it: a removable onirshe – for unmarried girls and directly located on the dress, (zhaga) – in the elderly ones. 

The onirshe of young girls are decorated with family tuyme (1 zhumalak tuyme, 2 baka tuyme, 2 airi tuyme, 2 shar tuyme), 1 onshik or gildshalgysh (key holder) and ongirmonshak (ringing hangers) – in the form of hemispherical cupola with lots of hangers in the form of bells, leaves – the symbols of seed, a life giver.
