What kind of hat was popular among the Karakalpaks in the old days?

The most common traditional headdress was Karakalpak men’s hats made of sheepskin shogirme having a second name – kurash.

The kurash was made of black sheepskin, with fur outside, sheepskin was sewn onto the cap of felt. The shogirme was similar to Turkmenistan and Khorezm cap, but differed from more flat roller – form.

Old men wore a kurash all year round, in winter wore under their scullcaps from soft fabric. Age differences affected on the color of a kurash (for old men it was brown), and its value (for old men it was higher).

You will find more examples of national Uzbek clothes in the book-album "Traditional Uzbek costume on materials of museum and private collections of Uzbekistan (Part 2)" (volume XLIX) from the series "Cultural legacy of Uzbekistan in the world collections".
