HOW TO BECOME A FRIEND OF THE WORLD SOCIETY?

What is the Kalapush skullcap?

The most popular and brightest detail of the male costume was kalapush scullcaps.

Boys’ and bridegrooms’ kalapush had an embroidered band decorated with braids, pompons from colored threads, and a round quilted relief surface, which was crafted due to pilta details (paper or cotton wool wrapped around knitting sticks) that were placed in the quilting between the crown of the headgear and lining, and created relief.

The relief quilting was embroidered with colored contrasting silk threads making remarkable bright patterns.

You will find more examples of national Uzbek clothes in the book-album "Traditional Uzbek costume on materials of museum and private collections of Uzbekistan (Part 2)" (volume XLIX) from the series "Cultural legacy of Uzbekistan in the world collections".

The general sponsor of the project is the oilfield services company Eriell-Group.
