What did the male half of Surkhandarya wear on their heads?

Among the headgears included kulokh, kulochkin, turbans and tubeteikas.

The turban was worn primarily by men in the valley as a headgear starting from the age of twelve. The most elaborate was a bridegroom’s turban of bright colors (red, dark red) that a bride was tasked with making on her own, embroidering it and getting it ready for the wedding. Elderly men wore white turbans.

You will find more examples of national Uzbek clothes in the book-album "Traditional Uzbek costume on materials of museum and private collections of Uzbekistan (Part 2)" (volume XLIX) from the series "Cultural legacy of Uzbekistan in the world collections".

The general sponsor of the project is the oilfield services company Eriell-Group.
