What was the sequence of wearing headgear by Karakalpak women?

The wedding set was completed by a kok keilek and a shapan.

In the latter half of the 19th century, the saukele was the main ritual of wedding dress. With the birth of the first child the woman wore a headdress of a married woman, which was not taken off up to the old age. It consisted of two parts: the lower (kiymeshek), worn on the head, and the upper – in the form of turban, wound over the kiymeshek.

You will find more examples of national Uzbek clothes in the book-album "Traditional Uzbek costume on materials of museum and private collections of Uzbekistan (Part 2)" (volume XLIX) from the series "Cultural legacy of Uzbekistan in the world collections".

The general sponsor of the project is the oilfield services company Eriell-Group.
