What was the "Saukele" worn with?

The saukele were worn sometimes with a tobelik made of thin sheet gilded silver in the form of obliquely truncated cone, which put on the cloth covering tumaka.

It was richly decorated with turquoise and coral in convex frames and engraved of floral ornaments. Together with tobelik decoration the saukele looked unusually luxurious. Woman wore a tobelik only with saukele, while for girls a tobelik was a festive dress.

You will find more examples of national Uzbek clothes in the book-album "Traditional Uzbek costume on materials of museum and private collections of Uzbekistan (Part 2)" (volume XLIX) from the series "Cultural legacy of Uzbekistan in the world collections".

The general sponsor of the project is the oilfield services company Eriell-Group.
