Work of the State Museum of Art during the years of independence

HOW TO BECOME A FRIEND OF THE WORLD SOCIETY?

Work of the State Museum of Art during the years of independence

When the republic gained independence, the Museum faced new challenges.

In the coming years, it is planned to complete its reconstruction and construct new, additional exhibition halls. On August 3, 2017, at a meeting with the clerisy of Uzbekistan, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized that from 2018 the museums of Uzbekistan will be provided with the necessary resources for further procurement activities. The words of the president of our republic provide an understanding of the close attention that the state pays to the development of museums.

The Museum has continued its famous traditions founded by the previous generation of its employees in preserving a scientific base for students of secondary special and higher educational institutions. Along with permanent expositions, there are exhibitions devoted to individual personalities and group exhibitions of artists and master craftsmen not only from Uzbekistan, but also from the countries of the former USSR and from abroad.

Thus, in autumn 2017, an exhibition of watercolours by the Russian artist A. Esionov was successfully held, as well as an exhibition of Italian couture where brand-name clothes of the best Italian high fashion houses of the last 60 years were presented. The Museum actively cooperates and organizes exchange exhibitions with museums of the USA, Japan, Germany, France and Great Britain and conducts scientific conferences on various issues of history, culture and art, contributing to the development of multilateral cultural relations. A huge amount of work was done to prepare exhibits from the archaeological department for the exhibition “Treasures of the Oases of Uzbekistan. At the intersection of caravan routes,” which opened in November 2022 at the Louvre Museum.

As a leading cultural institution, the Museum still attracts people of different generations and professions, citizens of the republic and tourists. We are particularly pleased when students and young people come to the Museum. It is they who are to build the future of the country, and the main and indispensable prerequisite for this is knowledge of national and world artistic cultures.
