The headdresses of the inhabitants of the Khorezm oasis differed from other regions in color, shape and way of wearing.

What kind of headdresses did the Khorezmians wear?

The main headdress was a high hat made of sheepskin fur with long wavy wool, a chugirma, worn all year round – an ancient headdress known since the 9th-10th c enturies.

A chugirma most clearly identified the ethnicity of the population of the oasis. This headdress was of three types – tugalak chugirma, sherozi and silkma.
