On October 20, 2025, the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan adopted a resolution "On the Approval of Certain Regulatory Legal Acts in the Field of Protection and Use of Archaeological Heritage Sites".
This resolution was developed to ensure the implementation of the laws of Uzbekistan "On the Protection and Use of Cultural Heritage Sites" and "On the Protection and Use of Archaeological Heritage Sites".
Until now, due to the incomplete development of by-laws regulating the field of archaeology, there were uncertainties and misunderstandings in a number of practical processes. In particular, there was no unified regulatory procedure for registering archaeological objects in the state catalog, transferring them to the state, assigning them to scientific, cultural, and educational institutions, as well as organizing international archaeological research and carrying out conservation processes. The new resolution defines specific procedures and conditions in these areas.
This resolution will serve to establish on a more systematic basis the preservation, study, and rational use of archaeological heritage sites.
